Parent Projects:
Michigan Alliance for Family Involvement Information Dissemination Center
Michigan Alliance for Family Involvement Information Dissemination Center provides information and resources for you and your family, including a packet of general and specific information for families of children with special needs, a list of resources throughout the state and nation, and information on how to navigate systems and understand benefits. View the MAFIIDC brochure.
We have merged two information services, Family Information Exchange (FIE) and Project PERFORM, under one grant in order to serve families better! The MAFI Information Dissemination Center will be staffed by former Project PERFORM members, who will have access to the expertise of FIE’s staff.
The Arc Michigan on behalf of the Michigan Alliance for Family Involvement was awarded this Training and Technical Assistance for Family Involvement grant by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Office of Special Education-Early Intervention Services. This grant is an Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Mandated Activities Project. It also receives funding from MDE Office of Early Childhood Education and Family Services.
The Arc Michigan will coordinate this new and integrated grant including the Information Dissemination Center and the other pieces of Parent Mentoring, Training and Leadership Opportunities. Another exciting aspect of this grant is the start of three initial regional sites whose staff will include parents of children with disabilities. The System Design Committee which will be made of 60% parents and family representatives and 40% representatives from MDE, agencies, schools, etc. will provide direction and operating guidelines to all parts of the grant.
As we undergo changes directed by a System Design Committee, we will continue to offer Michigan families of children from birth to age 26 one-on-one support, information folders, a lending library, and our web site, www.wash.k12.mi.us/perform.
